There?s hardly any other spirit that?s as versatile as gin. It?s therefore hardly surprising ? just enormously exciting ? that so many different gins have been released over the last few years, all with hugely different profiles. In the distillation of the juniper spirit, everything is possible and nothing is off limits. In the selection of botanicals, producers can take their pick from a seemingly unlimited number of possible ingredients. We like it like that; it means we can take our pick from a seemingly unlimited number of finished blends. One of those producers trying its hand at an innovative juniper spirit is Dactari Gin, a German firm from Lake Chiemsee. The premium spirit from the Bavarian house is I dream of GINi, a play on the name of the American TV series ?I dream of Jeannie?.
I dream of GINi needn?t fear its plentiful German or international competition. In direct comparisons as well as in anonymous taste tests, the Dactari Gin, which is available to purchase in the online shop here at Urban Drinks, holds its own well. We?re convinced about the quality of Dactari Gin and we?re not alone. You?re invited to get stuck in yourself and see if you can disagree.
The design history of Dactari Gin?s I dream of GINi
Dactari Gin is based on Lake Chiemsee. Not literally on it ? it?s on the land nearby. Obviously. In the locality of Prier. Designers Tim and Anne, who?d known each other for a while from their print & design shop, decided to branch out on their own, and since 2013 they?ve been distributing high end products like I dream of GINi, All About Woody Vodka, chutney, pesto, salsa, and a load more. One looks at the bottle of their Dactari Gin and is captivated immediately by their fantastic design. It?s an eye-catcher against any background. The original drawing was made by a French illustrator, who composed countless satirical stories about political figures in the 19th Century. We?re sure he?d be proud.
The production of Dactari Gin?s I dream of GINi
While most gin producers use wheat for their base spirit, Dactari Gin pushes the boat out a bit more. Onto Lake Chiemsee. Their base spirit is produced from wine and a variety of different grains. This provides the foundation for I dream of GINi, whose botanicals list is long, and includes juniper, aniseed, coriander, orange peel, lemon, pepper and liquorice.
This gin, which is available to purchase in the online shop here at Urban Drinks, can be categorised in the innovative group of New Western Dry Gins. Its aromas are characterised by herbal as well as orange tones, and its taste by fruity, lively edges. You can?t go wrong with a 1724 Tonic Water. If you?re thinking of a fruity cocktail, bear the Sweet Dream in mind:
- 40ml I dream of GINi
- 20ml triple sec
- 20ml grenadine syrup
- 20ml passionfruit juice
Shake all of the ingredients except the grenadine syrup up in a shaker and strain over a highball glass half-filled with ice cubes. Top up with the grenadine and enjoy.
