The producers of Edinburgh Gin, which is available to purchase in the online shop here at Urban Drinks, can look back on a long and impressive history. Just starting with the distillery; the pot still used to create the gin is 200 years old. Despite that, Edinburgh Gin remains impressively modern. The Edinburgh based firm sees itself as the modern embodiment of a bygone era. Edinburgh Gin is a true delight for veterans as well as newcomers to the world of gin.

Anyone who thinks that the spirit of a town can?t be translated into the taste of a spirit hasn?t tried Edinburgh Gin yet ? or has never been to Edinburgh. The distillers in the Edinburgh distillery caught inspiration from their enchanting setting. The Scott Monument, the Royal Mile, the Rail Bridge and plenty more all served as muses for this premium gin.

Zone 1 Gin: Edinburgh Gin?s central distillery

The essence of Edinburgh is infused into gin at Rutland Place, EH1 ? the beating heart of Edinburgh. Almost no other distillery finds itself in such a central location as that of Edinburgh Gin. This small-scale operation doesn?t need an enormous manufacturing plant. A round copper pot still and a tall column still, by the sweet-sounding names of Flora and Caledonia, sit underground and make Edinburgh Gin what it is; a premium gin with a taste as unique as the equipment used to create it. Unlike many other gin producers, the manufacturers of Edinburgh Gin are also famously hospitable ? you?re welcome to step off the Edinburgh street and treat yourself to a tour of their little distillery. You might not find that in the guide books, so keep it in mind. A gin sampling session is also included ? naturally.

Edinburgh Gin is the product of careful handiwork

Edinburgh Gin, which is available to purchase in the online shop here at Urban Drinks, is produced in small batches, allowing for a huge level of care at every stage of the production process. This begins with Scottish grain alcohol. A selection of botanicals are infused into the gin; juniper, coriander, citrus peel and orris root. But that?s not it. A strong dose of Scottishness ? heather and milk thistle ? are the final botanicals that remind you on the taste that this is a gin from Edinburgh.

In terms of enjoying Edinburgh Gin, you can?t go far wrong with a Fever Tree tonic water ? the slight sweetness works perfectly with the gin?s leafy botanicals. Try the Silver Fizz if you fancy having a go at a new cocktail:

  • 60ml Edinburgh Gin
  • 1 Egg white
  • 30ml Lemon juice
  • 1 tsp Icing sugar
  • Soda water to fill

Mix the gin, the egg white, the sugar and the lemon juice in a shaker with crushed ice. Shake, strain into a highball glass and fill up with soda. Garnish with a twist of lemon. Enjoy!
