The eyebrows of anyone who knows their history might jump up an inch when they read the name Stauffenberg Gin. Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg is remembered as a resistance fighter and honoured for his attempt to assassinate Adolf Hitler on the 20th July 1944 ? following which the general and his co-conspirators were executed. Stauffenberg Gin is produced by a great nephew of Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg. The distillery itself dates back to the 18th Century, and its Stauffenberg Gin is a high-class premium spirit with deep regional roots.
Stauffenberg Gin & the Stauffenberg Story
It is befitting of a premium gin that Stauffenberg Gin, which is available to purchase in the online shop here at Urban Drinks, is created as far as possible by hand. The gin is imbued with a traditional and rustic profile by the use of a copper kettle from the 1930s. ?Tried and tested? also characterises the choice of ingredients for Stauffenberg Gin: juniper berries, cloves, cardamom, lavender, coriander, and lemon balm complete the botanicals list. They are present in a wonderfully harmonious balance, with the effect that the aroma of the gin is well-rounded and full. In order to ensure a consistently high quality, a mere 180 bottles of the gin are produced per batch. In this way Stauffenberg ensure that every drop of their gin is produced with equal abundance of care and passion. The result is a brilliantly clear and pleasant gin that stands out even among its ample competition.
That light, sweet, and fruity aroma reveals itself immediately when opening a bottle of Stauffenberg Gin. The scent is dominated by a crisp citrus, while light floral notes and of course juniper tones also announce themselves. On the palate the gin?s light spice takes its place in the foreground. Coriander and cloves are initially loud, before a refreshing citrus flavour rounds off the experience, leaving gin fans fiending for more. Another sip has been known to do the trick.
