Origin
Bowmore 12 Years is produced in Bowmore, in the middle of the Islay countryside known for its good whisky. Bowmore 12 Years is based on only three ingredients: Barley, yeast and water. This and a procedure perfected over 240 years by the master distillers lead to the tasty Scotch enjoyment. Regional basic products are mainly used for production. The water used originates from the nearby river Laggan. Barley and yeast also come from the region.
Appearance
Bowmore 12 years itself has a warm amber colour. It is served in a classic and elegant bottle, which refers to the tradition behind the spirit ("Est. 1779") and its origin ("Bowmore - Islay").
Nosing
Bowmore 12 Years has a subtle scent of lemon and honey. This bitter-sweet combination is in perfect harmony with the smoky peat aroma for which Bowmore 12 Years is known.
Tasting
Bowmore 12 years Single Malt Scotch Whisky is warm and delicious on the palate. Fine nuances of bitter chocolate resonate unmistakably. The mild peat smoke accompanies you with every sip and allows honey tones again and again. Also the citrus taste, which already came through during the Nosing, becomes again present.
Bowmore gains complexity and a light fruit aroma for 12 years through the use of sherry barrels in its production.
Finish
In the finish Bowmore is 12 years long and mild. The peaty character of the single malt Scotch whisky is also noticeable in the finish, with very gentle, sweet elements added towards the end.
Awards
Bowmore 12 years is not only recognized by Bowmore lovers, but also by independent bodies. The single malt Scotch Whisky has won three awards so far. In 2016 it received a silver medal from the International Wine & Spirit Competition. In 2017 he was awarded a gold medal in the International Spirits Challenge. One year later, in 2018, Bowmore was also awarded gold for 12 years. This time from the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
