Brooklyn Gin?s famous origins: Welcome to Brooklyn
Brooklyn Gin is right at home in Brooklyn. What could be more fitting of the hipster hotspot than an artisan gin? Think Berlin, think Berliner Brandstifter, think Brooklyn, think Brooklyn Gin. The most populous district of New York City and home of countless hip-hop heroes including the Notorious B.I.G., Brooklyn has an increasingly loud reputation as a cultural hub. Whether Williamsburg or Biggie?s own Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn is a diverse borough with thriving art, music, and food scenes. Brooklyn Gin slides right in to fly the flag for local booze.
Brooklyn Gin is produced by hand by the three mates running the show. Painstakingly cracking their juniper berries and skinning their citrus fruits themselves ensures that Brooklyn Gin?s creators can keep a close eye on everything that goes into their drink. Naturally everything is as fresh as possible, and is all sourced locally ? this is Brooklyn, you know. Another matter of course: Brooklyn Gin is produced solely in small batches. From Cypress Hills to West Village, Brooklyn Gin has got New York City talking. The word is spreading in Germany too thanks to Urban Drinks and our ear to the streets, and now it?s coming to the UK. Don?t miss out on Brooklyn Gin, available to purchase now in our online shop.
Brooklyn Gin ? a Brooklyn Dry
Brooklyn Gin is a London Dry Gin ? which essentially just means it?s unsweetened ? from Brooklyn. It?s 11 botanicals include 5 citrus fruit peels, meaning this is a gin with a biting citrus freshness. That?s apparent when you open a bottle of Brooklyn Gin ? a classy little rustic number with a seductive blue glow and a big bold seal ? as its aroma is pungent. On tasting the citrus holds its place well, too. There?s no slacking on the juniper, which thanks in part to that hand-cracking, is lively and strong. The finish is smooth and the overall impression of Brooklyn Gin is as sophisticated as can be.
The creators of Brooklyn Gin are proud to relate that their gin is enjoyable on its own. They see that as a mark of quality that distinguishes their product from some knock-off paint stripper style vodka ? we concur. This is a premium spirit with character and wouldn?t be misplaced neat or on ice. If you want to get a bit more daring, here?s an own-brand recipe from the producers for their very own Crooklyn cocktail, the Brooklyn 75:
- 30ml Brooklyn Gin
- 15ml honey syrup (equal parts honey and warm water)
- 15ml fresh lemon juice
- Champagne to top
Mix the gin, the honey syrup and the lemon juice in a shaker and add ice cubes. Shake and strain over a champagne glass before topping up with champs and garnishing with a twist of lemon.
