Bulldog Gin: English through and through
The bulldog is the proud symbol of Englishness. Perhaps a little rough around the edges, the bulldog is known for its courage and dignified demeanour, and is the beloved family pet of millions. Equally English and loved by millions is gin; the fragrant spirit with a refreshing taste. It isn?t really a surprise that the two have joined forces to bring you Bulldog Gin. Bulldog Gin is a London Dry Gin which has won many awards and has created quite the name for itself. The gin is produced by an English distillery which has been making exceptional gin for the past 250 years. Using quadruple distillation, the finest ingredients are transformed into a well-balanced gin with a crisp finish.
Bulldog Gin is the creation of Anshuman Vohra, a former banker. Having been a gin fan from an early age, Vohra wanted to create a gin out of an exotic blend of botanicals, inspired by his travels around the world. He felt that other gins on the market lacked a smooth, harmonious flavour and sought to shake up the gin world. Thus, with the help of a few distillers, Bulldog Gin was born.
Made from good ol? Norfolk wheat, Bulldog Gin is made using pure, fresh water from Wales and 12 different botanicals from all over the world. Dragon eye and liquorice from China, white poppy seed from Turkey, lotus leaves and cassia from around Asia, juniper and orris from Italy, coriander from Morocco, angelica from Germany, lemons and almonds from Spain, and lavender from France are harvested from the same sources every year to make sure that the quality remains consistent.
Dragon eye is closely related to lychee and has a sweet, light flavour, while white poppy provides Bulldog Gin with a more nutty flavour, much like the almonds. Lotus leaves are very fragrant and have a seductive perfume, which is given a fresh twist by the lemon. Cassia smells a bit like cinnamon, giving the gin a sweet aroma and adding to the perfume, in the same way as the lavender and juniper. While the orris provides a woody flavour, the liquorice brings sweetness, and the angelica and coriander give the gin added surprise.
With Bulldog Gin, you get the unique Bulldog Gin experience
Bulldog Gin gets its name from Sir Winston Churchill, the wartime Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. He was often described as having a ?Bulldog Spirit?; meaning he possessed an incomparable determination, just like the bulldog. Both Churchill, and in a roundabout way, the bulldog, inspired the Bulldog Gin name and philosophy. Bulldog Gin takes after Churchill and the bulldog in that it mixes well but refuses to surrender to other tastes.
