Even before the American prohibition, New York was known for its Rye Whiskeys. It has long been used as the basis for the world-famous Manhattan Cocktail. The Tuthilltown Mill has already existed for more than 200 years and has turned into one of New York’s landmarks. The mill always used to be fuelled by water; that is also why the whisky is called Hudson Rye.
In 2001 three friends bought the mill and build a distillery on the property. Hudson Manhattan Rye is made of one charge of rye only. Thus it presents a wonderfully pure and intense taste. The aroma of the Rye Whiskey is fruity with notes of vanilla and caramel. The velvety texture of the whiskeys is guaranteed by the time-consuming pot still production and the double distillation. Upon bottling the whiskey in hand-numbered bottles, it rests in oak casks for four years.
