The James E. Pepper distillery was established all the way back in 1776, hence the name, making it one of the oldest whiskey brands in America. Passed down through generations of the Pepper family, the distillery specialises in Kentucky bourbons and whiskies. In the modern age, they still use traditional methods and grain bills, sourced from historical research to recreate the classic rye whiskey taste.
This whiskey is made from 90% rye in the mash bill, to give a rich and full-bodied drink with notes of spice, chocolate, cloves, and honey. The abv of 46% makes for a hefty spirit with a touch of heat, and a long and lingering finish. Enjoy this whiskey neat, over ice, or with just a splash of water.
