This year's hottest drinks trend is RumChata! This rum-based drink is inspired by Latin American horchata, a sweet and creamy drink made from rice milk and cinnamon. Horchata is an especially popular traditional drink in Mexico, and it's spread to the US as well, where you can find it in Mexican restaurants alongside the tequila and margaritas. It's also found in coffee shops, where people like to drink it as an alternative to frappes or other creamy coffee drinks. RumChata takes the flavours of horchata and adds a dash of rum for a cream liqueur unlike any other you've tried.
RumChata is a delicious cream liqueur
You've probably drunk cream liqueurs like Baileys, but RumChata brings a whole new flavour dimension to the category! RumChata's spicy cinnamon flavours add an extra kick to its creamy body. You can drink RumChata on the rocks and enjoy it on its own, or you can use RumChata in mixed drinks or even in cocktails.
Ways to drink RumChata: our favourite RumChata drinks
So, we already know that you can drink RumChata neat. But what about other options? Here are some of our favourite RumChata-based drinks. Firstly, add RumChata to coffee for a boozy, comforting drink to keep you warm when it's cold outside. Another option is to drink RumChata in shooters, or small mixed shots. Anywhere where you would use Baileys or other cream liqueur, you can use RumChata. For example, try a B52 - RumChata, coffee liqueur, and triple sec. Or a Mudslide - RumChata, vodka, and chocolate liqueur.
But that's not all! You can also drink RumChata in milkshakes and smoothies, or in hot chocolate. Some people like to mix RumChata into long drinks, mixing it with cola or ginger beer. One popular option is a root beer float - but watch out! Mixers with a high level of acidity tend to make RumChata curdle. The real cream used to make RumChata means that it can curdle like other dairy products do too. It isn't bad for you or gone off, but it doesn't look very appealing! So stay away from citrus juices or apple juices as mixers. With root beer, some brands curdle but others don't, so you'll have to experiment to find the right one which works for you.
Making RumChata: RumChata uses high-quality ingredients
RumChata is made from high-quality ingredients like premium five-times distilled Caribbean rum, which is especially light and smooth. Added to this is fine dairy cream from Wisconsin, USA, and a secret blend of spices which come from all over the world. Each batch of the liqueur is carefully tested and tasted before it's shipped out, so you can know that your drink will arrive in perfect condition!
