When dressed in pink, La Grande Dame becomes one of the most impressive expressions of the Veuve Clicquot style. Underneath its fine elegance lies a strong and sensual champagne that stands out for its aeging potential.
The basic blend is comprised of two-thirds Pinot Noir, sourced from the Grands Crus of Ay, Verzenay, Verzy, Ambonnay and Bouzy. The Chardonnay, which rounds out the blend, is sourced exclusively from three Grand Crus in the Côte des Blancs: Avize, Oger and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Red wine (15%) produced exclusively from the Pinot Noir grapes sourced in Bouzy vineyards was added to make the Grande Dame Rosé 2004.
La Grande Dame Rosé 2006 boasts a brilliant, limpid robe with a color somewhere between copper and salmon. The nose offers fruity and spicy notes with a refined mineral background. The extraordinary aromatic complexity becomes even more striking in the mouth. Amazingly smooth, this sparkling wine has an exceptionally long finish as well as a wide bouquet of aromas.
