Prussian and proud, that?s Adler Berlin Wodka
Who said that good vodka has to come from Russia or Poland? The German capital of Berlin is also in the running. The Preussische Spirituosen Manufaktur (Prussian Spirits Company) has been producing quality vodka for years from their factory8 in Wedding, a densely-populated area near the centre of Berlin. The factory was opened in 1874 and was originally used as a school for brewing apprentices. Since 2009, the premises have seen the distillation of Adler Berlin Wodka, a fine spirit which embodies the tradition of the old Prussian ways, yet fits right into the exciting, ever-changing background of Berlin. And what?s more, the spirit is available for purchase from the Urban Drinks online shop!
Adler Berlin Wodka is the brainchild of microbiologist Ulf Stahl and bartender Gerald Schroff: two men who share the same vision of creating delicious vodka, centred on perfection. Sophisticated distillation processes, such as vacuum distillation, ensure that the vodka retains all aroma. Thereafter, the vodka is stored in very old stone jars and left to mature. The final quality control is performed by Prof. Stahl and then the vodka is bottled by hand in small quantities. The bottle itself is a clear glass vessel with a large sphere on top of the cork; very traditional and opulent. The Adler emblem is printed proudly across the body to show that each bottle of Adler Berlin Wodka has met the standards expected of the Preussische Spirituosen Manufaktur.
Adler Berlin Wodka: old meets new in Adler Berlin Wodka
?Adler? is the German word for the eagle; the symbol of Prussia, of which Berlin was the capital. The Kingdom of Prussia was once a very powerful part of Germany but, due to dramatic changes in Germany?s political and geographical appearance, it all ended in 1918. The Prussian soul is still very much alive though and is synonymous with professionalism and efficiency. With the image of an eagle incorporated into the Adler Berlin Wodka logo, the Prussian Spirits Company is tipping their hat to way back in the 19th century, when the company was first founded.
Why not try out the vodka in the classic Bloody Mary and act all sophisticated? Take a tall glass and pour in 50ml Adler Berlin Wodka, 10ml lemon juice, and 120ml tomato juice. Season with ground pepper, celery salt, 3 dashes of tabasco, and 5 dashes of Worchester sauce, and stir well. A classy and refreshing drink for those who prefer the finer things in life, much like the Prussians of yesteryear. Or, if you prefer something a little bit sweeter, try a ?Vodka Sling?. Mix 50ml Adler Berlin Wodka, 30ml lemon juice, 20ml sugar syrup, and 3-4 ice cubes in a shake and strain into a tall glass. Add fresh ice cubes and a shot of still mineral water before serving.
Vodka, when correctly distilled, can be a delicious, refreshing spirit with great versatility. Adler Berlin?s creation is just that and is a vodka which can proudly bare the Adler emblem. Why not purchase a bottle from the Urban Drinks online shop and see for yourself what a delight this spirit is?
