What you should know about the origin and production of tequila

Tequila is divided into five groups according to its maturation. Spanish designations are used within Mexico, and English for export:
- silver, blanco, plata: A clear, transparent tequila. It is bottled immediately after distillation.
- gold, joven or oro: This is a blend of white (silver / blanco) tequila with aged tequilas (aged / reposado; extra-aged / añejo; ultra-aged / extra-añejo). How do you enjoy a tequila?
You can enjoy one of our high quality 100% agave tequilas neat in a sherry glass (Reposado) or in a cognac snifter (Añejo). The round taste of a good and matured tequila unfolds at room temperature.
In Mexico, white tequila is often mixed with a grapefruit soft drink and thus enjoyed as a long drink. In restaurants, young tequila in particular is served with a glass of sangrita and a glass of lime juice with the meal - in three glasses. These are then drunk in this order: lime juice, tequila and finally sangrita. The whole thing is called "Bandera" (flag) because it corresponds to the colors of the Mexican flag (green, white, red).
Outside Mexico, young tequila is often drunk with salt and lemon or lime. Usually the salt is licked off the hand first, then the tequila is drunk, and then the slice of lemon or lime is bitten into. Young golden tequila, on the other hand, is often enjoyed with a slice of orange and a pinch of cinnamon.
